Welcome to our very first Kiddies Kottage Addiscombe Newsletter. We hope you are enjoying the half-term break. These are a few things we would like to bring to your notice.
Early arrivals
One of our main objectives is to be inclusive and to ensure that no child is left behind. We would not like any child missing out on the opportunities for learning and development and unfortunately late arrivals at the setting do that. Besides, coming late to nursery school disrupts other children who are already engaged in an activity and the practitioner has to start the process all over. There are a wide range of events/activities lined up for the children: visits to the library, cooking activities, music and movement classes and all other exciting activities planned by our practitioners. We please ask that children arrive by 9am and 12pm promptly for their respective sessions.
Online Journals
In the next coming weeks, you will be receiving links to activate Tapestry. This is the online journal that provides updates on the progress of your child’s learning and development. It will also provide an open channel of communication with your child’s key worker. You can leave feedback and requests on the journals as they relate to your child. Please look out for the link in your inbox or spam folders.
Home-learning bags
In order to get you involved in your child/ren’s learning, we will be sending home-learning bags on alternate Fridays. This will give you an opportunity to observe and feed us back on how your child is learning.
Family Photos
We are in the process of creating our family tree wall. Could we please ask that you provide us with family photos? It helps children create a sense of belonging which is one of the means of promoting our British Values. Please be assured your photos will be confidential and taken care of.
Signing in
As you are aware, we started the electronic attendance sign-in which most of you stated as being convenient. Unfortunately, the internet has been down hindering the use of the iPad. This will be rectified by Talk-Talk on the 26th of February. We will then return to the use of the electronic sign-in.

Moving On…
We take this time to congratulate Ms Mel who will be moving on at the end of February to further her career with the Croydon council. She has been offered the role of an Education Health Care coordinator. We wish her great success in the new endeavour. Also Ms Kayleigh will be moving on to join the Police force as Investigative Officer for Children’s SPOC in the next few weeks. They will both be greatly missed.
What do you think?
We will be sending out questionnaires that will take less than 3 minutes to complete. We want to know what we can do to improve our services and gain an insight into your expectations. Please take the time to fill them.
And finally…
Texts will be our main means of communicating with you. However, you can update us on your preferred means of notifications. For any enquires, you can email [email protected] or call us on 020 8654 7556. Also, kindly follow us on Instagram @kiddieskottageaddiscombe to see what we all get up to in the nursery school. Please note that you can opt your child out of this social media platform.
Thank you for all the support you provide and we look forward to a continuous journey together.
